Centre of England Group

Riding for the Disabled Association

Who we are

The origins of the Centre of England RDA Group date back to the mid 1960’s when a surgeon at Warwick Hospital, who was also a keen rider suggested that riding would benefit some children. As a result, a group of Pony Club friends brought their ponies to a farm each week to let the children ride.

The Centre of England Group is now one of 500 groups attached to the Riding for the Disabled Association ( www.rda.org.uk ) and are based at Lowlands Equestrian Centre the home of the RDA National Training Centre. Historically the group held two sessions a week on a Thursday. In January 2019 the Centre of England Group merged with the Fen End Group who, after 47 years, were no longer in a position to continue on their own. Merging meant they could continue to hold their Tuesday afternoon riding session. Sadly, due to lack of volunteers and the school no longer being able to attend the Tuesday sessions ceased. We now hold 3-4 sessions on Thursday afternoons.
